The most common reasons that the POAP Curation Body does not approve a drop are listed below. These reasons are broken down into four main categories: the creative elements, the distribution plan, the purpose of the drop, and the issuer’s record and reputation in the POAP ecosystem.

CREATIVE

High-quality creative elements (art and copy) are essential for precious collectibles and often the aspect most appreciated by collectors. Each POAP should be one-of-a-kind collectible that creates a moment of delight for collectors and an emotional connection between issuer and collector.

As an issuer, it’s important to consider who will collect your POAP. The art and copy should match the collector's tastes and properly represent the memory being commemorated. If applicable, the creative should also be consistent with project/community branding.

Sometimes drops don’t pass the bar for quality creative elements. In these cases, the Curation Body rejects the initial request and provides guidance on how to improve.

As a general rule, always ensure the artwork for your POAP follows these guidelines:

  • PNG, JPEG, or animated GIF format

  • Resolution of 500x500 pixels

  • File size of 1MB or smaller

  • Fits into a circle, which is the standard shape of a POAP

  • No profane or explicit content

  • No copyrighted content unless the issuer is directly affiliated with the copyright holder

The quality of the art needs to be improved

As an issuer, if your POAP is minted by people who didn’t actually share the memory, you no longer have a reliable record of participants. POAP is not able to interact with users located in OFAC-sanctioned countries. OFAC stands for the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and it's a United States government agency that enforces economic and trade sanctions against certain countries and individuals.

PURPOSE

If an issuer has a history of creating high-quality, unique, and desirable POAPs with secure distribution, the Curation Body may give them the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, if an issuer has previously created low-quality POAPs, has not properly distributed past POAPs, and/or has intentionally mislead the POAP Curation Body or violated the POAP Terms of Service, the Curation Body may take a more critical approach when reviewing a drop.

This issuer has been associated with fraudulent behavior
